Have a ball in Sydney this Summer …

Sydney shines all year round .. but the Harbour City really does come in to its own in summer. Here are a few of Sydney must do’s to incorporate in your personalised Australian vacation over the summer months:

Take a dip ! Sydney offers more than 100 beaches to choose from – famous surf beaches (like Bondi, Manly or Tamarama), sandy harbour coves (such as Parsley Bay, Balmoral or Little Manly) and tranquil bays accessible only on foot. For swimmers who prefer a pool, there are more than 40 open-air ocean baths to choose from (such as Bondi Icebergs, Shelley Beach ocean pool near Manly or for a pool with a view try Andrew ‘Boy’ Charlton pool in Woolloomooloo or the Maccallum Pool at Cremorne Point, both with spectacular harbour views).

Learn to surf. Join a surf lesson on Sydney’s beautiful Bondi Beach or learn from one of the best with a private surf lesson from 7-times world champion, Layne Beachley.

Stretch your legs on one of the world’s most scenic stretches of coast (and one of Australia’s best short walks), the iconic Bronte to Bondi coastal walk. Reward yourself with a refreshing dip in the waves at Bondi, an aperitif at IceBergs .. or

Cool down with a tasty gelato from Sydney’s hottest ice creamery, Gelato Messina. There are 11 Sydney locations and more than 40 flavours to choose from, Macadamia Crunch to Pavlova Gelato. We can even arrange a private gelato-making class to learn some of their delicious secrets.

Catch a movie (that’s if you can keep your eyes on the screen !) .. from 7 Jan – 17 Feb 2017, the Sydney Open Air Cinema screens new releases and old favourites on a giant screen emerging from Sydney Harbour with the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge as its backdrop.

Have a ball getting cultured as you work your way through the annual Sydney Festival (7-29 Jan 2017) program with signature events such as Opera in the Domain, Symphony Under the Stars and the colourful Australia Day celebrations on Sydney Harbour (26 Jan) .. as well as fun and quirky inclusions such as ‘the Beach’ interactive art installation where visitors can ‘swim’ amongst more than 1 million white balls at Barangaroo.

Go Island Hopping. Sydney Harbour is dotted with islands which each offer a different Sydney experience. Enjoy a guided tour of Fort Denison (a former rocky fishing spot for the Eora people, a convict prison and now a spectacular summer dining venue), a private Aboriginal ‘Welcome to Country’ ceremony on Clark Island, a harbourside sleepover on Cockatoo Island (with glamping and apartment options on the island), a picnic by the water’s edge on Shark Island .. or a sundowner on ‘The Island’, a floating European beach club-style bar on Sydney Harbour.

And sail off into the sunset .. an iconic Sydney must-do – catch the scenic Manly Ferry to enjoy a cocktail on Manly wharf, zip around the harbour in a water taxi to one of countless waterfront restaurant tables, take the helm of an America’s Cup yacht or enjoy the afternoon in local-style on a private luxury cruiser .. but don’t miss the opportunity to get on the water and enjoy Sydney Harbour at its sparkling summer best !
