Escape The City For A Few Days Of Fine Wines And Fabulous Wilderness.

Head for the Hunter Valley Wine Country just north of Sydney to enjoy two nights of fabulous food and wine, staying at the wonderfully inviting Spicers Guest House. Explore the boutique cellar doors and world-renowned labels that are dotted throughout Australia’s oldest wine growing region. Sample great wines and fresh regional produce. We’ve also included a private cellar door experience to take you behind-the-scenes at one of the Hunter’s finest wineries.
Travel inland to spend the following two nights exploring the Blue Mountains beyond the icons and discover what makes this beautiful wilderness area so World Heritage-worthy. Enjoy the fresh air and space, adventure action and relaxation all in the soothing surrounds of Spicers Sangoma Retreat.

Off The Beaten Wine Trails

Enjoy an in-the-know introduction to off-the-beaten track top drops, great eats and boutique stays in Mudgee and Orange.

Setting off from Sydney, with a knowledgeable host at the helm, travel over the Blue Mountains’ Bells Line of Road and through the pretty Capertee Valley to Mudgee. With the central NSW country town rapidly developing a reputation for world-class wineries and award-winning wine bars, your host will introduce you to some of the region’s finest. Sample local Malbec and Cabernet, Tempranillo and spiced meads. Toast to a great day, drinking in the sweeping country views from your insta-worthy luxury eco-glamping accommodation.
Continue to Orange (and learn about the area’s history of orcharding – mostly of apples!) before sampling some of the area’s cool climate wines and meeting a collection of the town’s colourful local characters. Continue the tastings over lunch and overnight in a luxuriously converted Victorian mansion. Return to Sydney the following day, with a coffee stop in Bathurst, and in all likelihood, a boot-full of souvenirs!

Begin your gourmet getaway as you mean to continue, in style, sipping champagne at the famed Lake House in Daylesford. Then roll up your sleeves to enjoy an exclusive hands-on cooking class the with the acclaimed restaurant’s talented chefs. Enjoy the spoils of your labour, a fabulous three course meal, with matched premium wines. It would of course be remiss to visit Victoria’s spa country without a visit to the day spa, so spend the following morning soaking in 100% pure mineral waters. We have included a one-hour relaxing massage to help you really unwind.

Journey to the Grampians through beautiful farmlands and towering eucalypts, stopping for lunch in the grand gold-rush city of Ballarat. On arrival at the Royal Mail Hotel, join the sommelier for a tour and tasting in the hotel’s impressive wine cellar before a degustation dinner in Wickens Restaurant, another hatted regional Victorian restaurant. After breakfast, join one of the hotel chefs to learn the sustainable philosophies of Australia’s largest restaurant kitchen garden. Then journey through the Grampians National Park and take the opportunity to hike to scenic lookouts, admire waterfalls and wildflowers and learn about the region’s rich Aboriginal history.

Mt Langi Ghiran, regarded as one of Australia’s most celebrated producers of Shiraz, is the perfect spot to break up the return journey to Melbourne; and an exclusive tour and tasting experience is the perfect way to round off this escorted epicurean escape.

Continue to Melbourne by road, or finish on a real high with a scenic 75-minute scenic helicopter flight to the city.

Then explore the many vineyards of Marlborough, sampling the endless supply of sauvignon blanc. Continue down the coast to Kaikoura, a seaside town prized for its crayfish, a local delicacy. Enjoy a duo of cooking classes in Kaikoura and Christchurch, one by a celebrity chef and the other by one of New Zealand’s best luxury lodge chefs! Finish up in Queenstown where you’ll switch to the pinot noir vineyards of Central Otago, the southernmost wine producing region in the world.
