Australia's Great Walks: Spicers Rim Trail

Discover Australia’s Newest Multi-Day Hike: The Spicer’s Rim Trail

Introducing the newest of Australia’s Great Walks – the 5-day, 4 night fully guided, catered and accommodated Spicer’s Rim Walk.

Just over an hour from the Queensland capital of Brisbane, the walk leads hikers into untouched ancient landscapes carpeted with World Heritage Listed Gondwana rainforests.

Millions of years in the making and more than 20 years in the planning, Australia’s newest luxury wilderness walking experience officially launches in March 2020 with weekly departures (min. 4 , max. 12 walkers) through to November each year.

The walk includes approximately 4-8 hours walk each day (over the 4 trail days) to complete the 48 km track. Hikers enjoy fine food and wine as well as a collection of exclusive accommodation along the way. Luggage is transported between accommodation, with hikers required to carry only a day pack with the essentials (a jumper and / or spray jacket, sunscreen, water bottle, your packed lunch and a camera !)

Hikers can expect to see a collection of native Australian birds and animals, from wallabies to wedge-tail eagles, possums and king parrots .. and perhaps even a koala or two high in the eucalypts. Traversing rainforested ridges, ancient volcanic mountain peaks offer up panoramic vistas and the walk leads hikers alongside hidden creeks and past picturesque waterfalls to enjoy the tranquillity and natural beauty of this largely unexplored corner of Queensland.

Those with a little less time on their hands yet still keen for a taste of this adventure can join Spicers 2-day Rim Walk. The all-inclusive guided walk departs weekly (Fridays) between March and November annually with guests enjoying overnight accommodation in Spicer’s own glamping accommodation.
