Mahu Whenua

Wanaka, New Zealand

Give something back during your holiday. The team at Mahu Whenua are regenerating the land through sustainable farming practices, replanting extensive areas with native bush, and breeding native birds.

Mahu Whenua consists of four high country sheep stations owned by record producer Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange. The stations stretch from Wanaka through to Queenstown over 55,000 hectares of towering mountains, lush green valleys, native bush, forests and meandering rivers.

The accommodation is comprised of five king suites, one with an adjoining bunk room catering for two children. Homestead facilities include two open fireplaces, a large open living area with expansive views, a fully equipped farmhouse kitchen, two dining areas and a library. Outside, there are several spots to unwind including two dining areas, a spa pool (hot tub), a sheltered swimming pool and a large decking area to make the most of the incredible views and location.

More than 90% of the land has been protected by the Queen Elizabeth II National Trust, making it the largest conservation undertaking on private land in New Zealand's history. The name Mahu Whenua aptly translates to “healing the land”.
