Set on a 300km2 private property on the edge of Kakadu National Park, Bamurru Plains offers safari-style tented accommodation with some of Australia’s best birdwatching and richest untamed wildlife experiences in the spectacular Top End.
Accessed by 30 minute scenic flight or approximately 4-hour 4WD transfer from Darwin, Bamurru Plains offers a safari-style wilderness experience surrounded by uniquely Australian Top End landscapes and adventures.
Off-grid and proudly without WiFi, mobile (cell) reception or televisions, Bamurru Plains’ freestanding safari-style bungalows look out over the Mary River floodplains through safari-style mesh walls to provide a true connection with the surrounding wilderness. A generously proportioned Kingfisher Suite can accommodate in-room dining and families, whilst the two-bedroom Jabiru Retreat, with its own sundeck with plunge pool – is ideal for families with older children or couples travelling together.
Bamurru Plains’ main lodge serves as the property’s social hub with communal long-table dining, an infinity pool and wildlife sunset viewing platform.
A range of touring options on foot, by airboat, four-wheel drive or helicopter explore Bamurru Plains’ surrounding wetlands and waterways, outback plains and savannah woodlands introducing guests to a collection of colourful locals including: hundreds of bird species, crocodiles, wallabies, wild horses and buffalo. The majestic World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park is also only a day-trip away from Bamurru Plains.

Bamurru Plains offers the opportunity to celebrate the seasons of Australia's Top End. Earlier in the year, there are more water-based activities. By the end of September, the floodplains have mostly dried up, activities are mainly land-based and the prolific wildlife congregates at waterholes.
