Fiji Luxury Travel is Back
BULA! After many months of closed borders, we are beyond excited to share the news that the beautiful islands of Fiji are ready to welcome international visitors back with genuinely warm mile-wide smiles from 1 December 2021.
Our decades of experience in tailoring Fiji travels for the most discerning travellers will help you find you perfect place and pace, and our long-standing relationships with local suppliers will ensure you’re treated to the most favourable booking conditions and special privileges.
Yasawas or Mamanucas? Laucala or Likuliku? Kokomo or Vomo? Matamanoa or Malolo? Adults only or family friendly? Flop and drop or island hop? Knowing which island is just right for you can be daunting so, here, we are sharing a few of our favourites to choose from:
An all-inclusive and ultra-exclusive private island resort catering for the who’s who of the world; and those who appreciate the luxury of privacy.
In Fiji’s Northern Lau Island group, Laucala is accessed by a 50-minute flight from Nadi with the resort’s own aircraft. (Private aircraft are also permitted to land on Laucala with international arrival procedures such as customs and immigration clearance arranged by request).
Having been transported to one of the world’s most exclusive private island resorts, guests are greeted by rainforest laced landscapes, palm-fringed beaches and the most genuinely warm hospitality.
Just 25 generously proportioned Fijian-style villas are dotted across the 12km square private island (over the water, by the beach or among the trees). Each one offering unparalleled luxury and privacy including private gardens and their own infinity pool.
Resort facilities also include no less than five restaurants and bars (from beachside BBQs to fine dining – although guests may also choose from one of several spectacular private dining locations), a fleet of 14 boats (from sleek fly-fishing cruisers to traditional outriggers ) with which to explore these magical surrounds, an 18-hole golf course, a 2,000 square metre lagoon style pool, a fabulous kids club and a divine day spa.
It almost goes without saying that guests of the island can enjoy their choice of water sports: from windsurfing and kite surfing to paddle-boarding and kayaking; but they may also choose from a wide range of guided walking tours and horse-back adventures to visit Laucala’s traditional cultural village, secluded beaches, spectacular lookouts and organic farms. Off-island adventures also include fly-fishing and deep-sea diving with Fiji’s legendary dive site, the Great White Wall, only minutes from the island.
KOKOMO PRIVATE ISLAND
A private island resort as indulgent as it is inviting, as enticing to honeymooners as it is to families.
A scenic 45-minute seaplane flight or a short helicopter hop from Nadi, Kokomo Private Island resort sits on the fringes of Fiji’s Kadavu island Group. Lush tropical rainforests fringed by white sandy beaches, surrounded by endless turquoise seas and encircled by the Great Astrolabe Reef: welcome to Kokomo Private Island Resort! This Pacific paradise has everyone and everything covered – from the kids club to the rainforest spa. Guests can surf secluded reefs, explore underwater caves and hike to hidden waterfalls. Surfing, sailing, water skiing and wakeboarding; beach games and glass bottom boat tours, deep sea fishing adventures and sunset cruises are just some of the other activities on offer.
Beneath the surface, visitors to Kokomo are treated to another world of underwater treasures. Fiji’s legendary Great Astrolabe Reef (and a collection of rewarding, yet rarely-visited dive sites) are only minutes from the island, whilst snorkellers can also explore brilliant coral gardens only metres from the shore. Dive with reef sharks, swim with turtles and participate in the island’s Manta Ray conservation projects (Manta Rays visit these waters between May and October).
Dine beachside or poolside, in your villa or in one of countless breathtaking private settings (including the resort’s new Wine Cellar that can cater for exclusive groups of up to 10 people). The menus here heavily feature island-grown, locally-sourced and sustainably caught ingredients as part of the resort's conscious commitment to preserve and protect the island’s natural beauty and inhabitants.
Kokomo’s accommodation offering includes 21 one-, two- and three-bedroom beachfront villas and 5 luxury residences (including the ultraluxe owner’s villa, and three-, four-, five- and six-bedroom secluded hill-top residences), all with private pools. The whole island is also available for exclusive-use for special celebrations with extended family and friends.
ROYAL DAVUI ISLAND RESORT
A romantic adults-only reef-fringed island offering barefoot luxury surrounded by the picturesque Beqa Lagoon, just south of Fiji’s mainland, Viti Levu.
Access to the island is with a 35-minute scenic heli-transfer or, for those wanting to see a little more of Fiji, a 3-hour private road transfer on coastal roads and over mountain ranges to Pacific Harbour connects you with the resort’s high-speed launch for the 25-minute transfer across the lagoon to Royal Davui.
Just 16 bungalows and villas (all with private plunge pools) are nestled in the resort’s 10 acres of lush tropical landscapes. The resort’s communal facilities also include a palm-fringed resort pool, a Pure Fiji day spa,
Kayaks, catamarans and paddle boards are yours to explore the tranquil waters, but with more than a dozen dazzling dive sites within minutes of the resort, Royal Davui’s underwater world is the real draw card. From wreck dives and shark dives to swim-throughs and soft corals Beqa Lagoon offers a wide variety of dive sites and marine life for novice snorkellers and experienced divers alike.
Adventurous types will also delight in the resort’s game fishing tours and trips to some of Fiji’s best surf breaks (and shouldn’t miss the opportunity for a spot of “skurfing”: somewhere in between water-skiing and surfing). There are also opportunities to join a guided visit the local village or trek to the island’s scenic peaks.
Enjoy champagne breakfast on a secluded sand cay, a romantic beach picnic, sunset cocktails and treetop dining among the branches of ancient Banyan trees.
Above all, unhurried and unpretentious, guests of the freshly renovated Royal Davui are encouraged to kick off their shoes and embrace island pace.
A private island escape that offers the best of both worlds: adults only AND family friendly.
In the easy-to-reach Mamanuca islands, Vomo is accessed by a quick (15 minute) helicopter flight from Nadi airport or a 30-minute launch transfer from Vuda Point Marina (a 20-minute road transfer from Nadi).
Vomo’s range of accommodation includes spacious inter-connecting beachfront retreats, standalone havens and hill-side villas; alongside a collection of three-, four- or five-bedroom luxurious and self-contained private residences, each with private pool and generous indoor-outdoor living spaces. Vomo island can also be booked exclusively for special celebrations with friends or multi-generational family reunions.
Days here are yours to enjoy as you please with an impressive activities list that stretches from scuba diving and day spa’ing, fishing and golf (the island has its own 9-hole course) to tennis, windsurfing and yoga.
At the tranquil northern end of the island, there’s an adults-only beach club, bar and pool; but with dedicated Baby Butlers, a creative kids club and a raft of adventure activities, Vomo takes equally good care of the little people in your life: from toddlers through to teens.
Vomo’s 'little sister' island, Vomo Lailai, can also be booked for exclusive-use. The perfect spot for a decadent romantic picnic (complete with white table cloths and sun loungers) or a secluded family get-together.
These properties are just a small sampling of the idyllic island getaways that Southern Crossings offers in Fiji; a list that also includes Likuliku Lagoon Resort’s blissful overwater bungalows, Jean Michel Cousteau’s barefoot luxury for avid divers, Dolphin Island’s exclusive and intimate private island, tucked-away Tokoriki’s honeymoon hideaway, the stunningly stylish and commendably sustainable Six Senses Fiji, Qamea’s off-the-beaten path adults-only boutique retreat, the remote and romantic Yasawa Island Resort and Spa as well as firm family-favourites such as Nanuku, Matamanoa and Malolo.
But it’s not just about knowing which island resort to choose, our Travel Designers also know which rooms to request, how to get you there smoothly and in style, and will take care of joining the dots and all the little details to let you simply get on with the business of relaxing.

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Fiji will reopen its borders to welcome international visitors again from 1 December 2021.
Fiji will initially offer quarantine-free travel to travellers from Australia, New Zealand, United States of America, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Canada, Qatar, Germany, Spain, France, Republic of Korea, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland and most Pacific Island Countries and Territories. (Travellers are advised to check their home country’s travel restrictions and requirements).
All visitors over the age of 18 must be fully vaccinated with a recognised vaccine (Fiji currently only recognises the Astra-Zenaca, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Moderna vaccines); and must be able to demonstrate proof of vaccination.
All visitors over the age of 12 years must also receive and provide evidence of a negative RT PCR Test within 3 days before boarding their flight to Fiji. Visitors may also be required to undergo a rapid Covid test on arrival at their hotel or resort.
Visitors to Fiji will also be required to download and activate the CareFiji contact tracing app to check-in and access local businesses on arrival in the country.
Fiji’s tourism industry has spent the months behind closed borders enhancing health and hygiene protocols to provide a safer experience for their guests. Under the Care Fiji Commitment Program, local tourism suppliers have adopted WHO-approved policies and standards including fully vaccinated staff and visitors, best practice health and hygiene procedures and contact tracing.
As of October 2021, 80% of the Fijian adult population is also fully vaccinated.
The above advice and information is correct as of October 2021.
