Australia’s Reef and Rock are set to get a fresh new look
Two of our favourite properties in two of visitor’s favourite Australian destinations are currently closed to undergo extensive maintenance and exciting redevelopment projects.
Longitude 131 at Uluru is closed until 31 July for a multi-million dollar enhancement project which will see the resort re open in August with a spectacular new premium accommodation suite, a dedicated spa facility, revitalised central dining and lounge area, a re-landscaped pool and a new dune top bar for sunset viewing. This current project will complement the property improvements which have already taken place since Baillie Lodes took over the resort operations in 2013. These have included refurbishment of the property’s 15 tented pavilions and the addition of stunning new balconies.
The all-new and very generously proportioned two-bedroom Dune Pavilion positioned discretely away from the others will offer a new level of luxury with expansive glass walls and exterior decking incorporating a private plunge pool and offering views of both Uluru (Ayers Rock) and the Kata Tjutas (The Olgas).
The communal Dune House which encompasses the reception, lounge, dining and bar areas will also reopen with a fresh new look; and the pool area beyond will receive new decking, stylish new outdoor furniture and a pool side bar. A signature new spa facility taking inspiration from the awe-inspiring surrounds will provide indulgent treatments and massages incorporating the traditions of the indigenous Anangu people whilst the new dune-top bar and deck with sweeping views of Uluru, Kata Tjuta and the surrounding dessert is set to be the place to head for sunset drinks or a romantic dinner under the stars.
Meanwhile, Qualia on Hamilton Island in the Whitsunday Island group on the Great Barrier Reef is also currently closed for a refresh following Cyclone Debbie last month and a planned comprehensive maintenance program to ensure the resort continues to provide the award-winning facilities and standards for which it is renowned. The resort will reopen 1 July 2017.
